Valspar Trade Direct to Site service delivers perfect finish on flat development project

When renovating a former council-owned building into a series of flats, A-Z Building Services turned to Valspar Trade’s Direct to Site service to get the job done, with the paint manufacturer’s Bare Plaster and Tough Matt emulsions specified.

First investing in property back in 2013, A-Z Building Services has a wealth of experience within the sector. For one of its most recent projects, the company were looking to strip out a building for redevelopment into a series of contemporary flats.

Speaking about the project, Ali Osmani, Developer and Builder at A-Z Building Services, said: “We purchased the ex-council building in 2021, with the view to convert it into five apartments and the addition of a shop on the ground floor. However, first we had to strip the building right back, before plastering and decorating each individual unit. This led us to working with Valspar Trade, after I was introduced to Carmelita, Valspar Trade’s Trade Sales Specialist (TSS) for our region, who provided a great level of support.”

With such a large building area being renovated, a significant paint order was required. This led A-Z Building Services to take advantage of Valspar Trade’s Direct to Site service, as Ali explained: “When we’re completing developments like this, time is of the essence. It’s essential that we stick to our project deadlines, otherwise we risk lengthy delays that can affect output. That’s why the Direct to Site service was so appealing, saving us from having to travel to and from our local TradePoint to collect the paint. Instead, our order was delivered direct to site, ready for us to start work promptly.

In addition to the quick and efficient delivery, Valspar Trade’s high-quality emulsions were also beneficial for the project, with its Bare Plaster paint ideal for the freshly plastered surfaces. Valspar Trade Tough Matt was then applied as a topcoat, for a hard-wearing finish. Ali commented: “The quality, coverage and opacity of the paint was something we were really impressed by. This was our first time using Valspar Trade and I have to say it definitely performed as well as, if not better, than the brands we’d used previously. 

“As well as the clear application benefits, we were also drawn to Valspar Trade for its colour offering too. Carmelita showed us some of the options available and we loved the Morning Song colour, which is a warm grey tone. We had Tough Matt mixed in this shade, as well as using the Pure Brilliant White colour too.”

With the first-floor apartments now completed, the A-Z Building Services are looking to complete the ground floor properties and shop, with Valspar Trade Knot Block Primer and Undercoat and Interior Gloss products also being specified for this.
